People Are Strange

Majority, art, weed, bad people, and more, on this weeks episode of The Distracted Philosopher.

"Actually I came up with a really good quote for the show this week. I was driving so I couldn't write it down. Basically I'm saying I forgot it. Sorry." - The Distracted Philosopher

Why is there always equipment in front of my seat?

It really bothers me that laws get passed based on the majority vote when the majority is barely over half. All this means is another vote could just as easily go the other way. The decision will be very controversial as almost half completely disagree. Brexit was 51.9%, Trump was 46.4, Clinton 48.5 — barely half or not even half — everyone is still completely divided.

But this isn’t my point. My point is that passing a law doesn’t change the behavior of people. Thousands of cars are speeding on the interstate every day — sure you can pull over a few here and there, but it’s not going to stop it. But for some reason, many people believe if there is a law, people will follow it.

People are strange.
